Great streets are full of people and shady trees, they are the shared space that connects our communities.

Combating urban heat island effect and microclimatic extremes requires a new approach to green infrastructure in our streets.

Landscape planning and management that is integrated with drainage, access and services will help establish adaptive responses to variable weather whilst remaining low maintenance and viable for the long term. 

We are particularly mindful of the importance of trees and gardens to residents in a mixed-use context and how shared landscapes provide opportunities to socialise, add amenity and create ‘special places’ to spend time with loved ones or to take break from the day-to-day grind.
